I Have a Great Story to Share with You

I grew up on the Canadian Prairie, which means that it gets dark in the winter by 5 p.m. I got a paper route when I was nine years old and spent a lot of time walking my neighborhood delivering papers, and telling stories to keep myself entertained. I was sure I was going to have my first novel published by the time I was 12. This is a little story I use on my LinkedIn profile to create an instant connection with people interested in finding out more about me. You are more likely to remember me … [Read more...]

Be The Wayne Gretzky of Writing

Raise your hands, how many of you have been ‘writing your book’ or ‘working on your book’ for longer than a year? Keep them raised if it’s been longer than two years…five…a decade…longer? I had a conversation with your unfinished manuscript and here’s what it asked me: what have you done for me lately? If you are not writing today, or you didn’t write this morning, or you’re not going to be writing tonight, then you aren’t actually writing your book; you are talking … [Read more...]

My Note From The Universe

And yours too, writers: It's not from the known, but the unknown that creativity and inventiveness are born. Turn away from the predictable, cliché, and reliable. Brave the void where the darkness is greatest. Trust the quiet, find the stillness, feel the calm. Then steadily think, speak, and move as if you were led. Behave as if your vision were clear. Anticipate the emotional rush that will come with your triumph. And as if by magic, as you raise your pen to write, you'll find the words … [Read more...]

10 Women Who Made A Difference In My Life This Year – Part 2

Yesterday, I shared Part 1 of Women Who Made A Difference In My Life This Year. CLICK HERE to read it. Today: Michelle Neufeldt: It all started with Michelle. This journey. Two years ago. I walked into a then unheard-of class called Zumba. Nothing has been the same for me since. Michelle's fire, her passion, her exuberance, her hootin 'n hollerin' got me out of a FUNK of epic proportion. Prior to Michelle, I HATED. HATED. HAY-TED exercise. Exercise was this punishing, awful thing I 'had' … [Read more...]

10 Women Who Made a Difference in My Life This Year – Part 1

2011 has been my year. I have made quantum shifts in my business, my relationships and my emotional and spiritual health.  And here's why: I had the assistance of strong, phenomenal women. Michelle Gabriel: I started this year lower than I've been in a decade. Zero cash flow, low spirits, self-esteem in the gutter. I was in a bad way. Michelle helped pull me up. She figured out the simplest and quickest way to help me. I mean REALLY help me. In a tangible way. She connected with me, and … [Read more...]

Nap Time

This has felt like a very indulgent weekend. Sleeping, reading and putting butter on my toast. It is so peaceful out here that I can’t help but drink in the tranquility. And I didn’t realize how exhausted I was! Looking back I don’t think I’ve spent any length of time relaxing since Christmas, and that was 6 months ago.Which means that everything around here acts like a narcotic. Any time is nap time out here at The Shack. The wind rustling through the trees, I’m out.The sound of the … [Read more...]

Tiny, Quiet Revolution

So here I am...5 days in to a new place of being. Exploring something I am completely shocked to find myself exploring. Uncharted parts of me. Shocked and delighted to find myself here.10 days ago I agreed to do a cleanse for a friend of mine who is launching a new business. I am so fond of her and wanted to support this leap of faith she is taking. Sure, I can do a cleanse for 3 days. To support Neelam. No big deal. But the result for me has been monumental. Three days drinking juice has shifted … [Read more...]
